What the hell is wrong with Microsoft?

I've been getting errors for over a year now on different Xbox One S'es. I frequently get "took too long to start", "do you own this game or app?", or "insert the game disc" I've spoken to xbox customer support no less than two dozen times and I've tried everything. Factory resets, hard restarts, clearing my cache, reformatting both of my external drives. You name it, I've probably done it. I've also had my provider inspect my router.

I've tried seeking help several times at Gamefaqs and my experience there has been a complete. Gamefaqs users accuse me of being a liar and a troll so i've come here to Gamespot as a new user yoping to get more mature responses. I've had my PlayStation 4 for three years and it has none of these issues.

Please reply if you can help. I appreciate it, thank you

Hello, anyone?

Not sure if you're just trolling or not, but ok... I'll play along.

If Xbox customer support can't help you (which I find hard to believe), then not sure what else to suggest. Maybe you have a faulty console or there's something wrong with your XBL account.

@hrt_rulz01: No bro I'm not lying or trolling at all, its all true and I'm a 41 year old gamer, not some teenager seeking attention. At this point I'm done supporting Xbox until Microsoft builds a more reliable console. As I said in my first post, I've had my PlayStation 4 for over three years now and it doesn't have any problems or give me any errors. Thanks for the reply.

Do you get error codes?

@danno1: The XB1 is very reliable. I haven't had any problems with my various XB1 models (I've had OG XB1, S and X). And my cousin has had a couple of hardware issues with his PS4.

So you're just unlucky I guess.

@SUD123456: Yes I do:

1. Ox8027025a "took too long to start" This is one I get the most frequently. Sometimes all I have to do is eject and reinsert my game disc and my game plays fine, other times I have to hard restart my Xbox One to get my games to play. It isn't just one particular game either, I get the error sporadically with any of my games.

2. 0x82d40004 "insert the game disc" This error I have been getting since the beginning of July this year after a console update. The weird thing is that I only get this error when turning on my Xbox One from energy saving mode, if I use instant on then I don't get the error, very weird.

3. "do you own this game or app" I haven't gotten for awhile(2 months), but I've had trouble with in the past before. Sorry idk the code for that error.

4. I've called Xbox customer support many times before and have tried all of their advice and troubleshooting, none of their troubleshooting has resulted in permanent resolution to the errors.

@danno1: I think the 3rd one is actually the same as the second. In any case, it sure seems that it is about the disc drive, possibly the h/w itself or maybe something s/w related to that. I had several error codes that kept cropping up on my XBox1X but they were different than yours and related to initial bootup and failure to launch properly. Had to unplug and try again multiple times to get it to go....then eventually it completely froze. I tried everything they said including multiple wipes and reset from scratch. Eventually I just put in a warranty ticket because it was under a year and they replaced it. At least that went smoothly. Sorry I can't help.

Occasionally I'll get an error telling me my XBO can't find the game disc, when it's still inside of the system and the only thing that's changed is it was off since the last time I played it. Usually ejecting it and returning the disc a time or two gets the system to find it. This mainly happens with bc XBox 360 games for me. It might have something to do with being online and having a secure connection to recognize the game.

I have noticed some other odd little glitches from time to time with the XBO. This happens a lot whenever I'm installing a lot of stuff while trying to use the system. For the most part though, I'd say the XBO has a pretty solid UI.

@SUD123456: Idk about Xbox One warranties since I've never dealt directly with Microsoft, but I have a one year in store warranty on mine directly through Gamestop. I really like it because I can immediately exchange my Xbox One through Gamestop instead of having to send my Xbox to Microsoft.

I have never really had any problems with my Xbox, the codes you are describing are not ones that I can even remember having seen before. I wish I could offer more insight, but I cannot.

If there is nothing wrong with your XBL account, or your internet, and have ruled out every other possibility, then it must be a faulty console. Nothing else we can say here.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, for those of you that own the One X I have a couple of questions. Is the hardware and disc drive better than the One S? Will I be far less likely to get errors? How much better is the resolution ? I don't have a 4k tv so will I notice much of an improvement graphically?

your firmware did a faulty install during one of the updates or you got a faulty console. It happens.

I'd clean reset the console (like erase everything and reinstall the system software like it was new), reinstall the games and see if you still get the same errors.

I don't have an Xbox one yet but i'am not buying just yet either. (Haven't decided between the PS4) I heard the warranty is only one year which shows their completely unvolantary to fix these things.

Well forgive me if I sound like a troll, but I'm mad and I've F'ing had it with Xbox One and all of the stupid problems with Xbox Live! I've troubleshooted with Xbox customer so many times, i've exchanged my Xbox One several times, I have good wired internet connection. Despite all of this that F'ing took too long to start error never goes away. Never! Wtf Microsoft Wtf? My 3 plus three years old PS4 has none of these error problems.

I may sound like a drunken sailor to some of you, but I don't think I'm out of place. I am not buying any more Xbox One games unless its Halo 6 or Gears 5. Microsoft better have their S*** together with the Xbox One successor, that's all I've got to say!

I sometimes get the "do you own this" message pop up bit just hard restart the system and it always seems to fox the issues. There has more issues recently than usual.

@hawken: Give Gamestop a try if you really want to buy an Xbox One. They offer a 1 year($30) or 2 year($50) in store warranty plan. Meaning that if your Xbox One gives you problems you can exchange it for another one directly. Me personally though, I refuse to buy another Xbox product until Microsoft permanently fixes the error problems.

I'm guessing that if you even tried several Xbox consoles and you always had the same issues or you are trolling or you're just the unluckiest guy on earth. I don't know what else you want from MS. It's clearly not a generalized issue so the probability of being a problem on MS side is very low.

My advice would be to just give up on the Xbox. If it was just one console, then ok, but several consoles with the same problem... I don't know, it's difficult for me to give you any credibility. But anyway, just give up on it, enjoy or PS4 and maybe buy a Switch.

Really sound like BS if I'm honest. Multiple consoles with the same issue, you might be the unluckiest guy on earth. Have you tried to set up the console as "Home Console"?

But anyway, enjoy your PS4 and maybe buy a Switch.

@phbz: I'm not trying to troll at all, I'm just upset. I took your advice too, I was out of switches, but I talked to Xbox customer support tonight and they renewed my switches. So my XB1S is now set as my home console, but I kinda doubt that was the issue.

I truly don't know what the issue is, it is truly an anomaly to me. That being said I do like Xbox for the few exclusives that they do have. Halo, Gears and Forza I all enjoy. I'm not a hardcore 'Playstation 4 or nothing' fanboy, but my PlayStation 4 has proven to reliable for a long time unlike Xbox One. My provider said that there were no problems with my internet so I'm certain the problem isn't my router. The only that comes to mind is an issue with my Live account, but I've tried deleting and readding my account(just one, only me, no friends) and that hasn't helped either so idk.

I appreciate your opinion, but I only have two devices in my apartment. One is my XB1, the other my PS4. I don't own any other Microsoft products that aren't Xbox and I'm satisfied with the service from my provider. To me that clearly that Xbox is the source of my problems.

It has taken MS a full generation near enough to fix mistakes from previous management. How they had next to no 1st party studios was criminal. Next gen is where we could see a slight comeback but I fear Sony will always have the edge.

to danno. really no research at all. its a bad disc drive...... if you look up the issue you had. this would go back to the ps2
